This mapped series of sculptures that double as temporary food storage for leftovers and donated meals focus on food waste and redistribution in Southern California’s urban streetscape. The work implicitly invites the Hungry to feed off the art rather than the trash. The work further attempts to mediate a meaningful gesture of interaction between strangers; that is, one person giving a meal to someone else who has not been able to eat recently. The sculptures seek to bring the living conditions for some of our homeless community members to the forefront of the public consciousness.
